Applications are now being accepted for the position of Assistant Chief of Police in the Lake City Police Department.  This is highly responsible, managerial, professional technical and administrative work in the directing the daily operations of the Lake City Police Department.  Work is performed under the Chief of Police. 

Applicant must have the ability to plan, coordinate, organize and supervise activities and employees within the police department.  Conduct appraisal of crime prevention and law enforcement problems of the City of Lake City.  Candidate will prepare studies and analysis relating to law enforcement procedures, develop efficient police solutions and make adjustments to departmental methods to improve existing operations.  Set goals and objectives and participate in overall strategic planning, control expenditures and police department appropriations and management development of department budget.  This person will respond to external environment, community and other public issues that effect the department and cooperate with federal, state and municipal officers in the apprehension and detention of wanted persons.  Manage government related and departmental disciplinary system.  Act as department liaison.  Individual will perform all other related work as required. 

Possession of a Bachelor's of Science Degree in criminal justice or business administration is preferred.  Ten (10) years experience in law enforcement including five (5) years in a management position. 

Candidate must possess a law enforcement certificate issued by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission within six (6) months of the date of employment and must reside in Columbia County, Florida at time of appointment.  Applicant must possess a valid Class E State driver's license at the time of appointment and successfully meet all medical and physical requirements and drug screen.

The City of Lake City is accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator “C”.

Applicant must posses a Class “C” Waste Water Operators Certificate and has a minimum of one (1) year experience at a wastewater treatment plant. All applicants must posses a high school graduate or general education diploma (GED) and a valid Florida driver’s license.  Applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.  Applications may be obtained and should be filed at City Hall, 1st floor 205 N Marion Avenue,Lake City, FL 32055.

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Water Treatment Plant Chief Operator.  This position is a responsible, technical and supervisory position involving administration of daily operations of the water treatment plant and laboratory.  This work is performed with the supervision of the Water Treatment Plant Director. 

All applicants must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).  Selected applicant must have eight (8) years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of treatment plants, with three years in a supervisory capacity.  Applicant must possess a Class “A” (Class “A” preferred, Class “B” acceptable) Operators Certificate (water) as issued by the State of Florida.  All applicants must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
