The Ichetucknee Partnership

In the Summer of 2012, the Lake City Columbia County Chamber of Commerce partnered with The Ichetucknee Partnership (TIP). The Ichetucknee Partnership is located within The Lake City – Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber stands for strong business enhancement and smart growth in our region, but realizes that we cannot have any of this without clean water. The goal for the Chamber in this partnership is to promote the message of water resource protection and education in a variety of ways.

If you are interested in receiving a daily water conservation tip, please like our Facebook Page or follow us on Twitter.  For more information please visit The Ichetucknee Partnership.

The short video takes you on a trip from the Upper Ichetucknee Basin to the confluence of the Ichectucknee and Santa Fe Rivers in North Central Florida. It is easy to forget about what happens upstream from a beautiful and pristine river like the Ichetucknee. The Ichetucknee is under threat from chemical and nutrient runoff as well as from lowered water levels which affect the ecology of the Ichetucknee's multiple ecosystems and the quality of the water that people from all over the world have enjoyed for so long.  After the video, you will see a map that highlights the locations of the areas above the river that were featured in this video.  The Ichetucknee River and its springs are not the only waterways in Florida at risk. This video serves as an example of how what we do upriver and aboveground can affect our aquifer and springs.  Video by Eric Flagg

Bellamy says, "Turn off the TAP!"

TIP Coordinator, Abbie Chasteen and Bellamy Beaver, The Ichetucknee Partnership's 8 foot tall mascot travel around Lake City sharing the message on water conservation and water protection.  In addition to attending many community events throughout the year, Bellamy also visits with each Kindergarten class in Columbia County and teaches them to "Turn off the TAP!"
